One focus of the EU-funded "AI Exhibits" project is to bring non-formal education into schools with portable, interactive suitcase exhibits. Designed to make artificial intelligence (AI) accessible and engaging for all ages, these exhibits empower educators and learners to explore AI’s role in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through engaging and hands-on experiences.
Suitcase exhibits are self-explanatory, portable stations that break down complex topics into approachable and interactive formats. They are versatile and easy to use: plug-and-play—just open the suitcase, and the exhibit works. The integrated tablets operate on electricity or battery power, providing added flexibility. The suitcases are lightweight and easy to carry, making them ideal for shipping between schools or use in various settings. The pop-up experiments encourage independent exploration, sparking creativity, collaboration, and dialogue. They foster open-ended experimentation, making them ideal for learners of all ages to engage playfully with the topic of AI.
This part of the “AI Exhibits” project specifically supports secondary teachers by broadening their understanding of AI and providing practical strategies for integrating the topic into classrooms. By blending non-formal, museum-inspired methodologies with classroom practices, the exhibits enhance digital skills, promote computational thinking, and showcase AI’s role across STEAM disciplines.
By introducing interactive, student-centered learning experiences, the AI suitcase exhibits inspire active engagement and curiosity, helping to prepare learners and educators alike for a technology-driven future.
