The yearly Ecsite Conference brings together over 900 science engagement professionals from 50+ countries. They share knowledge, learn from each other, and build important professional networks. In 2024, it was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, hosted by Kersnikova Institute.
AI Exhibits was present in Ljubljana from June 5 to 8 with the team members Andreas Matt and Eric Londaits from IMAGINARY. Both were invited to a presentation on “AI Communication”, and Andreas took an additional part in a special panel discussion on how AI core concepts can be explained to a general audience (or even to experts in other fields). Also, we joined the AI network workshop (see picture), where many members of science museums discussed how a sustainable network can be established to exchange ideas and experiences in bringing AI to the general public. A dedicated Discord channel was started and we are curious about its future!A special highlight for us was the official launch of the website ai-exhibits.eu to the general public at ECSITE. Everyone loved the list of AI exhibitions(which we researched for our project), and some museums added their own exhibitions (and gave us info on the many upcoming AI exhibitions planned). Also, the idea of linking exhibits and non-formal education to schools was of great interest to all!
